URN PROJECT
HELP BUILD THE URN

The Urn Project evolved out of a decade's worth of finale performances implemented at the end of the All Souls Procession. MMOS conducted many experiments, working different designs and different ways of harnessing the cultural expectations of an entire community, as well as being able to safely burn a large object in the middle of an urbanized area.
Our genetic history tells us that fire is life, as well as warmth and security. Our modern human existence detaches us from the experience of utilizing fire for cooking, warmth, and the family/tribal hearth that was the centerpiece of so much of our human existence. This is the human genetic codec that the Urn Project and similar contemporary expressions directly touch in the human spirit.
We see the Urn in a planetary manner. We have created it so that anyone with Internet access can participate in the specific ritual that happens in Tucson, AZ, in the first part of November each year.
This site is also intended to empower your local community to physically participate by building an Urn in your locale and participating simultaneously each year with us. After reading through the material, please contact us if you have any more questions regarding how it happens. This project’s initiation was funded by the Black Rock Arts Foundation, MMOS, and donors from the community.

PRAYER FORM
For those unable to attend the Procession simply follow these instructions:
1) Send an e-mail to urn@allsoulsprocession.org with the subject, "Urn Prayer Form"
2) List any names you wish to honor, any dreams, hopes, wishes, or goals you want to make happen, or you can list bad habits, secrets, anything you'd like to let go of (smoking, drinking, etc.)
3) These can be completely anonymous- just make sure your name doesn't appear in the FROM field of your e-mail
4) E-mail your list and we will ensure that the message gets into the URN, or in the very least, within the projections during the Grand Finale.
For those attending, you are more than welcome to generate your own lists before the Procession. You are more than welcome to download a Prayer Form here which you can print, fill out and bring to the ASP.

The Spirit Group attends the Urn on it's journey through the Procession and performs the ceremony for the All Souls Grand Finale. Every year MMOS hosts workshops introducing basic techniques in dance, theater, and movement to participants.
