Food is an element in life which has so many enriching aspects. It is in the preparing, the creating and in the sharing of meals where we are given many gifts. Remembering Dinner is the latest project of the ASP Weekend, in which participants contribute treasured recipes from their ancestors and dear friends who have past on. The goal is to create a collection of recipes to share with the community over the course of several potlucks (separate from the community potlucks).
This collection will also result in a cookbook which can be applied as a fund raising tool for MMOS. These recipes would be collected during a series of community potlucks, beginning late September.
Each Remembering Dinner Potluck would go like this: A person brings a prepared dish of the treasured recipe and its text. The one criteria for the dish is that has 6-8 servings. All are welcome to participate. For folks who do not bring a dish a request can be made for them to bring beverages. If a community potluck is held once a month for seven months a fine collection could be had and then a cookbook could follow.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT REMEMBERING DINNER
Once you RSVP we will send you an email confirming your message with an Entry Form to record and return your recipe. You are welcome to submit your recipe using the form on this page instead of emailing the form. If possible, contribute a photo of the loved one from which the recipe came.
Please Bring:
- a prepared dish made from a loved one’s recipe that will serve 6-8 souls
- serving utensils and cutlery
- plate(s) to eat from (cups will be provided)
- refreshments of beer, juice, wine, to share
- a plate to be broken for an after-dinner plate-smashing event
(a mosaic will be assembled at a later date) - an open heart
This is a community event open to everyone, please spread the word!
